Part number 85381-12300 is a windshield washer nozzle used on several Toyota Camry and Corolla generations, along with a number of other Toyota and Lexus models sharing the same hood and cowl design. If your washer stopped spraying, stopped aiming correctly, or the nozzle housing is cracked, this is one of the most commonly replaced numbers in the Toyota range. Below is what it fits, how to confirm it is the right part, and how to install it in about ten minutes.
What 85381-12300 is
A hood- or cowl-mounted windshield washer nozzle. It clips into a specific opening and is aimed so the spray lands in the wiper sweep area. It connects to the washer hose with a push-on barb and does not include a check valve — the valve is a separate part further down the line.
| Attribute | Detail |
|---|---|
| Type | Windshield washer nozzle |
| Mounting | Hood / cowl clip-in |
| Hose fitting | Push-on barb |
| Heated | No |
| Check valve included | No — sold separately |
What it fits
Confirm your model year against your original part number before ordering — Toyota used more than one nozzle across these generations.
| Model | Notes |
|---|---|
| Toyota Camry | Multiple generations — verify year |
| Toyota Corolla | Multiple generations — verify year |
Other Toyota and Lexus models sharing the same cowl design may also use this number. The reliable check is the number stamped on your old nozzle.
How to confirm you have the right part
- Look at the old nozzle. The number is usually molded into the plastic housing or printed on a small label.
- Compare the spray aim. A nozzle that clips in but sprays over the roof or misses the glass is the wrong angle for your model — that is a part-number problem, not an adjustment problem.
- Check the hose fitting. The barb diameter must match your hose or it will leak or pop off.
- Search both formats.

Symptoms that point to the nozzle
| Symptom | Likely cause |
|---|---|
| Nothing sprays, but you hear the pump | Clogged or failed nozzle, split hose, or stuck check valve |
| Spray arrives late, then bursts | Check valve, not the nozzle |
| Weak, dribbling spray | Clogged nozzle, or a failing pump |
| Sprays but misses the windshield | Wrong part number, or a bent housing |
| One side only | Kinked or disconnected hose on that side |
| Nothing at all, no pump sound | Fuse or pump — check these first |
Order matters. If you hear the pump running, the fault is downstream (nozzle, hose, valve). If you hear nothing, check the fuse and pump before buying a nozzle.
Installation (about 10 minutes)
Tools: small flat screwdriver, the replacement nozzle, washer fluid.
- Open the hood and locate the nozzle on the hood or the cowl below the windshield.
- Release the retaining clip. Press the tab underneath with the screwdriver while lifting the nozzle.
- Pull the hose off the barb. Twist gently — do not yank, or you will crack the hose.
- Match the old number to your new nozzle before fitting.
- Push the hose onto the barb until it seats, then clip the nozzle into the opening.
- Test the spray and adjust the aim if needed.
- Top up with proper washer fluid. Plain water scales and freezes.
Do not use compressed air to clear the nozzle while it is installed. It can blow the hose off its fitting inside the fender, turning a ten-minute job into a bumper-removal job.
Related parts worth checking at the same time
Washer nozzles rarely fail alone on an older vehicle:
- Washer check valve — if your spray arrives late, this is the culprit. We stock Toyota/Lexus valves under 85321-26020 and 8532128020.
- Washer hose — hardens and cracks with age, especially at bends. A universal hose kit covers most single-vehicle jobs.
- Reservoir cap — a cracked cap lets debris into the tank, which is what clogs nozzles in the first place.
Frequently asked questions
What does part number 85381-12300 fit?
It is a windshield washer nozzle used on several Toyota Camry and Corolla generations, plus other Toyota and Lexus models sharing the same cowl design. Confirm against the number on your original nozzle.
Is 85381-12300 heated?
No. It is a standard unheated nozzle. If your vehicle has a heated nozzle, it will have an additional electrical connector, and you need the heated variant instead.
Is 85381-12300 the same as 8538112300?
Yes — the hyphenated and un-hyphenated forms refer to the same part. Try both when searching.
Why does my new nozzle spray over the roof?
The internal spray angle does not match your model. Visually similar nozzles aim differently. Confirm the part number rather than trying to bend the housing.
Should I replace both nozzles at once?
They fail independently, so it is not required. But if both are the same age and you are already paying shipping, replacing the pair is usually cheaper overall.
Can I clean the nozzle instead of replacing it?
Sometimes. Remove it and soak it in warm water with a little vinegar, then clear the opening with a fine pin. If the housing is cracked, the clip is broken, or the aim cannot be corrected, replace it — hard water scale inside the housing usually cannot be fully removed.
Does this include the check valve?
No. The check valve is a separate part. If your symptom is delayed spray, buy the valve rather than the nozzle.
Do you sell these in bulk for shops?
Yes — we supply distributors, repair shops, online retailers and private-label brands across the United States, Canada and Mexico. See our wholesale and bulk orders page.
